The advancement of social science methodologies

A collaborative group is studying the evolving discourse on methodology in the social sciences. To date, we’ve sifted the strengths and weaknesses of positivism, constructivism, phronesis, critical realism, and participatory action research; correlated them with the framework guiding the generation of knowledge within the Bahá’í community; and identified these methodological aspirations propelling the maturation of the social sciences: to democratize knowledge, to reconcile universal and contextual knowledge, to explicate the normative dimensions of knowledge, and to generate knowledge for social transformation. We’ll share our insights at this session, intended for students and researchers in the social sciences.
